Beaver Day Service Project/Public Appearances

From Scoutmaster Atlas:

I think that we would all agree that Scouting in our community, as well as around the country, doesn't get enough notice for the many ways in which the program benefits its youth and the community at large. Here at Troop 9, we make the extra effort to let people know that we're alive and well. The past few weeks have seen us working hard at Treasure Valley to spruce up the camp (17 Scouts and 7 adult volunteers spent 6 hours at the camp last Saturday in camp improvement projects), talking up Scouting in Troop 9 on the radio and television, and, more recently, serving as speakers and color guards at Council events where community leaders and donors were gathered to celebrate Scouting. Between our excellent Youth Leadership Team, them they have logged many hours at public events, interviews at radio station WTAG, Cable TV Channel 13 and together with our entire Troop this morning on the Channel 5 morning news! The publicity has been highly-visible, and many - including the Mohegan Council President, have offered their praise of our efforts to promote Scouting. All I can add, beyond what I've already expressed to the Scouts involved, is that I could not be prouder of their commitment and sacrifice of time and energies. Our Scouts constantly impress me with their strong desire and efforts to do the right thing for their Troop and for Scouting, and I wanted to take this moment to share that sense of pride with everyone.
